The white house facing the garden

The setting

A home for three. A refuge at the end of each day; a place of safety.

REE carries its owners' names within its own, because a home is an extension of those who live in it. Its gently folded rectangular plan shelters the garden from the winds of the Asturian coast. Almost all the house sits on one level, rising at its eastern end to catch the views and make room for the main bedroom.

The light

Sustainability, efficiency, openness and light; making every square metre count, and creating a home that feels as good as it looks.

Inside

Three bedrooms and a living room that feels open yet remains separate from the kitchen and dining space. The owners' love of design, hand-worked timber and photography is woven into every corner. The most rewarding part of the process is returning once the house is lived in, and finding it filled with everyday life.

The detail

A light, almost invisible balcony, opening the upper floor to the views.
